The best way to move around Prgaue and the rest of the Czech Repubblic towns and cities is by Taxi.
Unless you enjoy public transport, and the CZ has one of the best systems in Europe, and at least until you begin to find your way about - use the taxis.

Some taxis can be pleasant and cheap, others nerve-wrecking and pretty costly.

Solution A for Prague.
Use AAA taxi ALL the time.

AAA Taxi are honest, cheap, punctual and most of the time their drivers are pleasant chaps and quite a few speak various languages.

They don't cheat, they keep their meter running and have very fair rates - 24 hours a day - 365 days a year.

Most other taxi services, especially those you find parked everywhere in Prague, will cheat you, drive you around in circles and treat you like a cow to be milked.

TAXI - Solution B for Prague and other Czech Towns:
Find two or three taxi drivers and make a deal with each one of them to take you around for the duration of your stay at reasonable prices.

Three, because if one is busy you can call on the other two.

Most taxi drivers will agree to this and once you understand the rates from A to B it shouldn't be too hard to come to some sort of agreement.

How do you understand the rates ?
In Prague start by taking an AAA Taxi from point A to point B.
What you pay for this distance is the fair rate of Prague.
Anything above from other taxi drivers is robbery.
Bear in mind that Prague is expensive compared to other locations so a taxi in Brno will cost a lot less than one in Prague.

Do remember to tip your 'honest' taxi drivers.
If you do, you'll find that Czech taxi drivers, once the ice is broken, can be a good resource for insider information and once they give you their visiting card - you know you have a dependable transport service in town at your mobile phone's fingertips. Also good for emergencies.

Again, take a taxi.

If you're in Prague by car, the easiest way to get around if you really want to take the car - is to call AAA taxi and after you tell the driver where you want to go, just follow him.
This is the best and easiest way to learn how to drive through Prague.

It's also much faster and less stressing then figuring out where to go since even one way streets on maps are hard to figure out pre-hand.
Once you've done this a couple of times, venturing out by yourself then is much easier.

Taxi wisdom
One thing you should be warned about.
A lot of taxi drivers have a working agreement with various clubs and venues where they get a percentage when they bring a visitor. This can result in a friendly taxi driver suggesting that you visit a great club he knows and you'll end up travelling 30 miles from Prague.
And since most Czech taxi drivers don't actually themselves visit most clubs - they really don't know if a club can be reccomended or not.
So inform yourself about where you want to go beforehand (that's what this site is for) and check out the location of where you're going on maps pre hand.

A taxi driver is a good resource and there is no harm in asking about clubs but make sure he just tells you where the nearest 5 clubs are - never mind which ones he thinks are the best or the worst.

Non imbrogliano e tengono il loro tassametro acceso, offrendo tariffe molto ragionevoli 24 ore al giorno - 365 giorni all'anno.

La maggior parte degli altri tassisti specialmente quelli che si trovano su ogni angolo di Praga vi trufferanno, vi porteranno per kilometri fuori tragitto e vi tratteranno come una muccha piena di quattrini da mungere.
Credeteci su questo punto.

TAXI - Soluzione B per Praga ed altre città Ceche:
Trovare due o tre tassisti con i quali stipulare un'accordo per farvi portare in giro per la durata della vostra permanenza a prezzi ragionevoli.

Tre, perchè se uno è occupato potete chiamare gli altri due.

La maggioranza degli tassisiti concorderanno un'accordo del genere senza problemi ed una volta che imparate le tariffe da punto A a punto B - non dovrebbe essere difficile a mettervi d'accordo.

Come si fa a capire le tariffe standard ?
A Praga per esempio, prendete un taxi della AAA da punto A a punto B.
Quello che pagate per questo tragitto va considerata una tariffa onesta per Praga.
Qualsiasi altra cifra da altri tassisiti è un furto spudorato.
Tenete anche presente che Praga è costosa paragonata ad altre località per cui un taxi a Brno costerà molto meno che uno a Praga.

Non dimenticate di dare la mancia al vostro tassista di fiducia dato che i tassisiti di Praga, una volta sciolto il ghiaccio, possono essere un'ottima risorsa di informazioni. Una volta che un tassista vi dà il suo biglietto da visita - sapete che avete una forma di trasporto affidabile chiamabile in qualsiasi momento dal vostro cellulare.

Durante l'estate, a Praga può fare molto caldo - e se chiedete - AAA Taxi vi manderanno una vettura con aria condizionata - senza ulteriori spese.

Idem per vetture più decenti.
Se dovete andare a qualche bel ristorante o avete un'appuntamento per una cena, non vorrete arrivare in un cattorchio tipo una vecchia Skoda scassata.

In giro con la propria auto ?
Prendete sempre un taxi.

Se siete a Praga in auto, il modo più facile per spostarsi se veramente volete farlo nella vostra auto - è di chiamare AAA taxi e dopo che spiegate al tassista dove desiderate andare, di seguirlo nella vostra vettura.

Questo è il migliore e più facile metodo per imparare le strade di Praga.
Ed è anche molto più veloce e meno stressante che indovinando le strade dato che strade a senso unico sono difficili da comprendere anche su una cartina in ante-priori.

Taxi sagezze
Una cosa sulla quale dovreste essere avvertiti.
Molti tassisti hanno degli accordi con i vari club e locali dove ricevono delle provigioni per ogni cliente che ci portano.
Questo può risultare in un tassisata amichevole che vi suggerisce un'ottimo locale che lui conosce e vi troverete a girare a 50 kilometri da Praga.
E visto che la maggioranza degli tassisti non visitano i locali di persona - non sanno dunque se un club è da consigliare o no.
Per cui informatevi in anteprima dove desiderate andare (per questo abbiamo creato questo sito) e controllate la locazione dove volete andare sulle cartine prima di andarci.

Un tassista può essere una buona risorsa e chiedere informazioni sui locali male non farà ma assicuratevi che lui vi dice solo dove si trovani i 5 club più vicini - e lasciate stare quello che lui crede siano i migliori e peggiori.
